A miniature conveyor belt dishin’ out doughnuts on site! A smorgasbord of food trucks scatter Portland Oregon, but none delivered the cuteness like Pip’s Original Doughnuts. The mobile pastry and chai café-on-wheels is a revamped, Chevy Step-Van — formerly a mail truck– that sports spiffy rims and a sky-blue paint job. Inside, tiny little doughnuts roll off the metal belt and are handed fresh to people in line.
I ordered the “King and I” chai, which arrived in a just-right-size 8oz steaming cup of foamy delightfulness with a just-right-spice bouquet. The “Honey & Sea Salt” pastry is the unique dish, I hear. Pip’s doughnuts are the cutest little treats, a truly guilt free pastry size. Serving it up was a two-man team behind the counter who were working with speed and smiles for the ever growing line behind me.
